UC Baby 3D Ultrasound Clinic | Halifax Maternity & Newborn Photographer

Untitled-1

I was absolutely thrilled and honored when the UC Baby 3D Ultrasound Clinic asked if I would be a feature photographer, and display my maternity and newborn work in their new Bedford location.

The patient lounge/reception area is perfect backdrop for my beautiful clients, and hopefully an excellent avenue for reaching out to future clients!

Two GINORMOUS canvases are en route, and will be hung as soon as they arrive, but this evening I was in and hung a small interim display using the images you see above.

Congratulations to Nicole and Angela on the new franchise!  I wish you good luck and good vibes for your big opening day tomorrow!!

Sneak Peek: Proudfoot Family | Halifax Child and Family Photographer

What a great session today! This was a real treat for me, as a majority of my little clients are pre-school or younger, so it was nice to change it up a bit!

Adrianne and Alexandra….two of THE sweetest girls. Very different personalities, but equally as beautiful. One a lover of soccer and exploration, the other of horses and art.

This was another word of mouth referral, after mom Shawna saw previous sessions with little Loren, Ella and Henry.

Shawna and Darryl, it was a pleasure.

Your girls are delightful and I especially enjoyed watering the flowers and making pizza ;)

And Darryl, if I may say so, you look FABULOUS with flowers in your hair.

Sneak Peek: Theoharopoulos Family |Halifax Child Photographer

First, a confession.

I get incredibly nervous before every session.

There is always a moment of panic when I worry that I won’t meet expectations. I have learned to embrace it, because the day I am NOT nervous, is the day I won’t meet my own.

Yanna and George were gifted a session by George’s sister Tina, after seeing the photos I took of Dimitra and William back in May.

I am always delighted to hear that previous clients have referred me. There is no better or sincere form of marketing than word of mouth.

Yanna was a little nervous, as her girls are typically very shy, and  so I made arrangements for a quick little “meet and greet” yesterday to introduce myself.

When I arrived the girls we hiding behind a chair, and indeed very quiet………which lasted all of about 1.34097353 minutes. ;)

In no time at all, we were having cake, reading books, talking about school, dolphins, favorite colors and Greece. And so I left, with the promise of returning to take some pictures. I think they may even have been a little excited!

Fast forward to this afternoon.

There was no more hiding. In fact, Xenia greeted me at the door!

It was a real pleasure for me to spend a couple of hours with this family.

Yanna and George, you should be so proud of Xenia, Iriana and Kyrkos. They are so charming and polite.

No drool, no tears, no shyness.

Ελπίζω ότι θέλετε!

Back….to the Future |Halifax Portrait Photographer

“Jump….and the net will appear.”

~Zen saying

Ok, this is going to be a long one, so you might wanna get cozy.

In the grand scheme of things, I haven’t been at this “photography thing” very long. It’s only been 10 months since I had my first paying client.

It has been a whirlwind ever since, and I’ve had the fortunate pleasure of working with dozens of families. I’ve also been asked to shoot some product for some amazing crafters, one of which was Sparkleberry Crafts, based out of Manitoba. Janet asked me to shoot some images for her online Etsy store .

Now, here comes the crazy part.

Liam, of Applehead Studio and his uber-fab wife Marcia were looking online for some cute knitted hats…..where did they end up?

You got it.  Etsy.

That SAME day, I had just dropped off some new business cards at Bump Baby and Beyond (THE chicest maternity store in Halifax!) and noticed a massive canvas on the wall. I thought to myself, hmmmmmm,  Applehead Studio……I’ll have to google them when I get home.

I get home, and have an email waiting to be opened in my inbox. Who from?

Liam….of Applehead Studio.

He just wanted to drop a line, telling me how much he loved my work.

It was incredibly flattering, although I will now openly admit I thought he was just buttering up the competition!!!

Months pass, and several tips and tricks of the trade are exchanged over email, and a mutual respect and trust grew.

Then.  In July. He asked.

Will you take our family portraits?”

I thought I would die.

It’s one thing to have another photographer admire your work, and a whole other to have them be your client.

~~~~~~~~
What’s the point of this long-winded story?
Last night we stood together, for the first time, in our new studio.
It’s green. It used to be a dance studio. It needs some work.
But it is ours.
Thanks to Robbie for pushing me into this crazy adventure, and supporting the dream.
Thanks to Marse for trusting me with your family portraits (and your husband!).
Thanks to Brian and Karen of Aperture Studios for being such a fantastic resource for local photographers.
And thanks to Janet….that hat brought great things.
A Little Dirt Won’t Kill Ya | Halifax Portrait Photographer
Cheryl is a trooper. I don’t know how else to put it.
Mark is pretty much a champ himself.
Can’t say I’d be so willing to sit in stank, cold, murky muck.
But …..they were, and, they did.
Looked mighty fly doing it too.
Big props to Liam, of Applehead Studio for getting down and dirty…myself and Brian Larter stayed relatively clean, but that smell…..wow. I think we all brought some of that home.
A super fun evening with great people.
Part III is gonna be…….*ahem*…..hot.
