Nichole and Alban came by the studio on Saturday for their first of two sessions. Baby girl Gray is due in October and they are very excited to meet her! Their sense of humor had me cracking up the whole session, and I’m looking forward to seeing them as they begin the comedy that is parenthood 
Almost a year ago, I received an email out of the blue from Nicole and her twin sister. They were opening a new UC Baby location in Bedford, and were wondering if I would be interested in displaying some of my work. The night I went in to hang my canvases, I met Chris, Aiden and Brennan for the first time. The boys were charmers, and more than willing to share their nuggets with me. ♥
Little Keira Violet is set to make her arrival in July, and her big brothers are so excited to meet her. I can’t wait for her to “pop out” and spend some more time with this loving family.
A roller coaster.
That is how Leanne and John have described the last 27 weeks and 3 days. In and out of the hospital. Up and down with the bloodpressure. All waiting for Sophie Katherine…..excited to meet her, hoping she’ll come as close to full term as she’s able.
When Leanne contacted me to book her sessions, we originally scheduled the maternity portion for May 23rd. She wasn’t expected to go full term, and wanted to play things safe. That was on April 21st. Just five days later, I received word that Leanne had been readmitted to the IWK and was worried about not being discharged before the session date. We decided to cross our fingers and play it by ear. That was the last I had heard, until 2 days ago. It seemed Sophie was going to make her arrival this weekend! And the mad dash was on….I had to find the time to do this session. I knew it was important to document this part of their 4 year journey.
With a little rescheduling, a little chaos, and the permission of their physicians, John and Leanne were granted an evening pass to come to the studio. As it turns out, things are back on hold, and this strong willed, much wanted and much loved little girl won’t be making her appearance for at least a few more days….I can’t wait to meet you Sophie……and I’m most definitely not the only one ♥
With 17 years of mothering experience, and four children of my own, I know that along with the joys of pregnancy there can also be issues with body image.
I know how it feels when you can’t see your feet….when you’ve named your body pillow because it feels like a permanent fixture in your bed.
I know it’s not particularly exciting to find a new back roll, or to discover a road map on your stomach.
I know that with the excitement and anticipation of new life, the desire to feel beautiful does not dissipate.
I know how overwhelming that first week can be. Ok, that first year.
I know it’s not easy to trust a “stranger” with your pride and joy.
I know how to make you comfortable.
I know the football hold can be a lifesaver when you just can’t rock one more rock.
I know I’m going to get pooped on.
I know that it really is a smile.
I know they will never be this small again.
There are nine sessions available between now and September. If you are expecting and have been thinking about booking a newborn session, or a maternity + newborn combo session, please let me know as soon as possible. I am currently booking 6-8 weeks out.
The best time to schedule your maternity portraits is at the 30-32 week point (a bit earlier for twins!), and your newborn session takes place ideally between 5-10 days after delivery! I come to your home, and bring everything I need. It might feel like I’m moving in, but I get the job done
I’ve been really looking forward to sharing a few images from my trip last week. What a fun time I had sharing ideas, tips and stories with 4 other fabulous photographers from across the country.
Several weeks prior we put out casting calls for models, and were handsomely rewarded! I returned home (on less than 20 hrs sleep for the whole five days!) exhausted and completely refreshed, all at the same time.
Day 1 was for newborns:
Day 2 was for the big kids…..and some super cool locations….
And we finished out Day 3 with some maternity sessions in the studio!
I can’t say enough how fabulous of a time it was. There is nothing better for the creative juices than a get together with like minded individuals who share the same passion…..whatever it may be. Here are a few “behind the scene” fun ones…..most are from the first day of shooting but will give you an idea of the time we had.
There were a lot of “how many photographers does it take to_______________” jokes. ♥
What a great session today!
This sweet family travelled to me from Bridgewater for their maternity portraits….and it was actually the first opportunity I’d had to photograph a soon to be sibling with the expectant parents! Gillian made it so easy for me, and I just know she’s going to be an awesome big sister. I think she’s also a photographer in the making….and makes a mighty fine assistant!
