Last week I alluded to some exciting new and changes for Tanya Shields Photography and there is lots to talk about!
I am now accepting Thursday and Friday bookings for October 2010 and later!!
Many of you have been surprised in the past that I was available only on weekends and at times it made for some tricky scheduling. While my bookings doubled over last year, I was still holding a full time position at the QEII Health Sciences Centre and trying (albeit failing miserably) to wrestle with our ever growing laundry pile!
Having made the decision to decrease my hospital hours by 50%, I am excited to move forward with this crazy dream of mine that so many of you have made a reality.

Also arriving in October will be the christening of my new studio space! A cozier, more intimate space, it will allow the comforts of home to “my babies” and expectant mamas, while providing full access to my ever growing stash of props and backdrops! Stay tuned for pics as summer draws to a close.
As a side-note, I completely switched out all of my camera gear last week, and couldn’t be happier with my decision. That probably won’t interest many other than my photographer colleagues, lol, but it goes to show how eventful things have been lately!
And finally (if you’re still reading along!) I have the first of two special promotions to announce:

I’ve never participated in an event like this before, and I’m quite looking forward to it!

What is the Atlantic Family Expo you ask? Well, who better to explain than the organizers themselves?
“We Love Our Children-Atlantic Canada’s Family Expo is a two day expo which will give parents, grandparents, guardians access to experts on various subjects dealing with raising children. Families will be exposed to the latest in child safety, the scoop on the “how to’s” and the “whys”, family travel, the best activities to fill their lives and advice on how to plan for their future. There will be a play area, a teaching area, a speaker series, keynote, workshops and a marketplace to purchase items and services on-site. There will be contests, lots of FREE samples and giveaways, demonstrations and entertainment all weekend long.”
The mini sessions were a great time this Monday, and it was the hottest day of the year so far! It was really nice to see my repeat clients, and meet some new ones for the first time.

I love taking photographs…..but I will often tell my clients that my favorite part is seeing their faces when they get the final product. Nothing gets a better reaction than the custom flushmount albums, nothing.
The first one I ever gave, invoked tears. The second, same. And so on and so on. I have been fortunate enough to sell them on blind faith from my clients. They believed me when I told them how fantastic they were. They trusted I was telling the truth when I said what a great showcase they would be for their memories. Yet still, everytime, the response has been surprise. Surprise at the quality, the feel, the smell, the texture. “They’re so much better than I was already expecting!”
My point in all of this, (and yes, I do have a point!) is that I now have a beautiful flushmount sample to show clients before they place their orders.
The album you see here is a panoramic 16×6 album, but is also offered in 8×8 and 10×10 square.
